| Luck is Spelled W-O-R-K! |

You’re so lucky! I hate that phrase. While luck definitely plays a major part in winning sweepstakes, many people just don’t understand that it takes a lot of work to win consistently. Sure it takes a bit of luck to have your entry drawn, but how much luck would it take if you didn’t put out the effort to submit your name in the drawing to begin with? No amount of luck will make up for that mistake. New sweepers who start the hobby expecting big wins right off the bat are usually discouraged and quit within a few weeks. While there are a “lucky“ few who may win a nice prize right off the bat, most sweepers wait a good 3-6 months before they see that first win and some may wait years before winning a really big prize. Winning does not necessarily mean that you won the Grand Prize. It’s much more likely that you will receive a lower level prize such as a t-shirt, ball cap or CD. Every sweeper I know has a closet full of these items. To win, you must enter and you must do it consistently if you want to be the “lucky” winner. It takes a lot of effort, time and planning to enter sweepstakes if you truly want to win a few. No matter how many you enter, you will only win a prize in a small percentage of the promotions you participate in. I win approximately 15-20% of the sweepstakes and contests I enter. That is a very high percentage for a sweepstaker. Most consider themselves lucky if they receive prizes from 5-10% of the sweeps they enter. So why is my percentage of wins higher than the average sweeper? Because I follow my own advice as detailed in some of the articles here in Sweeps University and also because I am a contester. I have written articles in SweepsU.com's Sweeps University to help new and old sweepers alike understand the ways that they can narrow the odds and increase their chances of winning. I also love to challenge myself with writing and recipe contests. These entries require a lot of work on my part and are much harder to enter. However, they receive fewer entries and I have a better chance of ultimately winning a prize. Knowing which sweepstakes make the best use of my time and concentrating on skilled contests have combined to give me an incredible percentage of wins. Skill contests are not for everyone. They make some people uncomfortable and scare others to death. If it's not your cup of tea, you can still be a big winner by just following my instructions for finding the best sweepstakes to spend your time entering. My husband, Robert, does not enter skill contests. He is strictly a sweepstaker and his win record is almost the same as mine. So now that you know the truth behind winning sweepstakes and contests I hope you will get to WORK. Because that is what will ultimately win you some prizes!
