What I look for in a good sweepstakes!

LOCAL! LOCAL! LOCAL! If a sweepstakes is limited to my geographical area, my odds of winning are much better. That is the number one thing I look for. I will drop every national sweepstakes I am working on if a good local comes up that requires my immediate attention.

Of course, not everyone lives in a large metropolitan area that offers lots of good local sweepstakes. So what should these people be looking for? Here are my suggestions:

Sweepstakes that are limited to a specific age group or occupation. If you or your family members fit the description, go for it!

Short-running sweeps! The shorter the promotion is the better your chances of winning. Even sweepers procrastinate or have times when they just don't have time to enter. Or maybe people did not find out about it until it was over. Regardless of the reason, short-running sweeps don't draw as many entries and provide you with a better chance of winning.

Daily drawings for the life of the sweepstakes. If a winner is being drawn each day from day one, then obviously the sooner you get your entries in the fewer you have to compete with. It's the same theory as the short-running sweeps. In the beginning very few people may know about it and be entering, so your odds are much better of being drawn if you beat the crowd by getting your entries in early. That old saying, "the early bird gets the worm," wasn't written for nothing.

LOTS of prizes! The more prizes being offered in any one promotion the better my chances of winning something. Only one person usually wins the Grand Prize, so I look for sweeps that offer a large number of mid to lower level prizes that I would enjoy.

The harder it is to enter the easier it is to win. Most people just enter the easy ones. They do not want to spend a lot of time on promotions that require more effort. For example a mail-in only that requires a long sentence and a signature along with your NAZP is not going to get as many entries as the one that just asks for your NAZP. This is why skilled contests only receive a fraction of the entries sent in to a sweepstakes.

All the other sweeps that do not fall into these categories are still worth entering. After all, someone is going to win, but if you watch for the ones that offer you an edge and jump on them quickly you may be able to bring home a few more prizes.

Let me know if you agree or disagree with any of the above. Everyone has their own opinion and we would love to hear yours!

What is the best way to search for short running or daily prizes on SweepsU? or any of the other categories?

We do not have a search method for short-running sweeps, but we do have a program we are working on that will send you email notifications on them. Each person will set up their own criteria for sweeps they would like to receive email notifications on. The criteria will include location (state), age groups, occupations and short-running sweeps. You will receive a system email whenever a short-running or local sweepstakes that meets your criteria is posted on SweepsU.com. The beauty of this system is that you will not be bothered with emails about sweeps that you cannot enter.

Until that program is up and running I have been trying to post short-running sweeps in the Forum under Urgent Sweeps.

To find the daily sweeps, just click on by Frequency in the left side menu on the Sweeps List and select "Daily".

Let me know if you have any questions.

Pat,

I think I misread your original question. I thought you were asking about locals then and I see now that you were asking how to search for daily sweeps. That's an easy one. You can search from the SMS Sweeps List or within your own bookmarks just open the Quick Search menu by clicking on the "Search" icon (magnifying gla*s) at the top of the Sweeps List to open the menu on the left, then click on "by Frequency" and either "Daily" or "Daily - SEE NOTES".

To find Local Sweeps click on "by Type" and select "Local" from the drop down list.
