In the United States the sponsor of a sweepstakes or contest promotion is required - by law - to award every single offered prize (or something of similar value) to a non-affiliated winner selected by the means posted in the rules (which must be easily available to all entrants).
In other words, a LOT of people are winning these things.
If the initial winner of a given prize is unable or unwilling to accept a prize for some reason they must select an alternate winner until all prizes have been awarded.
Our very own Gwen Beauchamp has an incredible record of wins. From her short biography on the About Us page, "Together, she and her husband, Robert, have won 90 trips, 4 vehicles and countless other prizes." She also recently won $25,000 for a kitchen makeover in a recipe contest. Gwen is good, but there are people out there winning even more!
